Gopalkrishnan Shanker

Gopalkrishnan Shanker is the head of Madras Consultancy Group (MCG), a research and consulting firm that he founded in 1985, at Chennai, India. Over the last four decades, Shanker has guided MCG in completing consulting assignments in several B2B industry verticals in India, GCC, SE Asia, EU and North America. His areas of specialisation include business / marketing strategy, market analysis and marketing advisory.

An alumnus of Madras Christian College High School, Chennai and St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, Shanker holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (MBA) from the premier Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC), Kolkata. Professionally, Shanker has been part of the global consulting fraternity since the 1990s and has served as the President of Institute of Management Consultants of India and as the Vice Chairman of the International Council for Management Consulting Institutes. He is a past Chair of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, Tamil Nadu.

On the academic front, Shanker has been teaching Strategy and Industrial / Business Marketing, as an adjunct faculty member, for over 4 decades. He has run semester-long courses at IIM Calcutta, IIM Bangalore, BIM Trichy and IFMR Chennai. At present, Shanker is an adjunct faculty at IIT Madras and teaches Strategic Management & Marketing, in their MBA and Executive programmes. Widely travelled, Shanker has presented a large number technical and management papers at national and international conferences, held in several parts of the world.

Bharat Por Selvan

Bharat, Principal Consultant at MCG, brings over 18 years of experience specializing in managing B2B market research and strategic consulting projects. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Madurai Kamaraj University.

Bharat has commendable experience in managing projects across multiple areas including metals, packaging, forestry products, plastics, automobiles and various industrial products. He has worked on data-driven strategies for clients across diverse geographies in India, Europe, North America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Bharat oversees B2B market research and strategic projects across the aluminium value chain, including primary production, downstream processing and recycling sectors. With a clear understanding of market dynamics and technical aspects within the aluminium sector, he has guided cross-functional teams to achieve successful project completions.

R. Eashwar Ramu

Eashwar Ramu has 10+ years of experience at MCG and is currently a Principal Consultant. He has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Anna University, Chennai and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from IBS, Hyderabad.

Eashwar is adept in handling and coordinating projects from research design to through to data analysis to arrive at key findings and provide strategic assessments of the markets researched.

Eashwar has handled several studies relating to metals, engineering, building & construction, machinery & equipment, and plastics for domestic and multinational clients. He also has experience in handling research projects involving assessment of the North American and European markets for specific products and providing key strategic takeaways for the client(s).

B. Nisha

B. Nisha has 25+ years of experience at MCG and is currently in charge of Accounts & Administration. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management.

At MCG, Nisha has been pivotal in overseeing the company’s financial accounts. She has consistently ensured the accuracy of all financial records and compliance with relevant regulations.

In addition to her accounting responsibilities, Nisha has played a key role in administrative operations, efficiently managing various tasks and supporting the smooth functioning of the office.
